Geocache Description:

MGA14

Welcome to the 11th Annual Metroparks Geocaching Adventure 2014, a geocaching game placed by MiGO members in partnership with the Huron-Clinton Metroparks. In order to complete the series, you will need to find the special cache hidden in each of the 13 Metroparks.

For links to all of the caches in the series please Click Here. At each cache obtain a code, such as "B = 6" found in the cache on the cover. Copy them exactly. They are to be placed in the appropriate locations in the brochure found here. That section of the brochure may be submitted for inclusion in the drawing for one of the 2015 Metroparks Annual Passes.

Those that log their finds of all 13 Geocaches should enter the codes into the on-line form found HERE. They will then be E-mailed instructions as to how to submit their entry. Each cache’s codes will also provide the key to the coordinates of a Bonus Cache which will be launched the day of the picnic.

We will be holding the 11th Annual geocachers picnic at Stony Creek Metropark on September 13. Watch the Metroparks Geocaching Adventure 2014 Picnic Page for more details.

The theme for this year's series is Invasive Plant Species in the Metroparks .

The term invasive species refers to introduced species (also called "non-indigenous" or "non-native") that adversely affect the habitats they invade by outcompeting native species. The Metroparks are conducting programs of invasive species removal, many of which make use of volunteers.

Each MGA2014 Geocache will contain a card giving the picture and discussion of one of the invasive species in that park. In addition to the code posted on the cover there will be the name of an invasive species located in that park. Carefully copy that name down so that you can enter it into the appropriate location on the crossword puzzle in the brochure.

The cache is located less than 30 feet from the trail so bushwhacking further than that is not necessary and is discouraged to reduce impact on the environment. Please park at the coordinates shown in the Waypoint table and start your walk at the Trailhead coordinates.

This cache is located within Indian Springs Metropark, a part of the Huron-Clinton Metropolitan Authority park system. A Metropark Vehicle Entry Permit is required: Annual Permit $30. Senior (62+) Permit $20. Daily Permit $7.
