AV8R
February
10, 2005 ~ The past few years have seen the geocaching community grow by leaps
and bounds and in order to allow new geocachers to log this fun locationless
geocache I have decided to change the rules of my AV8R geocache.
I
really enjoy reading the logs and seeing the pictures of far-away airports that
I will never get to visit and I'm sure others also share in my enjoyment.
In
order to allow many of our new geocaching friends the opportunity to log this
geocache, I will now allow previously logged airports to be logged more than
once, but not by the same person or geocaching team. Here's a list of the new
rules:
-
The
goal of this cache is to locate an airport and prove you were there by
providing photographic evidence.
-
This
evidence will be provided by uploading at least
2 pictures.
-
These
2 (minimum) pictures shall consist of
one picture of you holding
your GPS unit with a clear view of the airport or signage visible in the
background and your face clearly visible in the picture
and
one close-up picture of the GPS unit
showing the coordinates. I know many people geocache alone, but it is
possible to take a picture of yourself holding a GPS unit at the location. I
have done it myself for other locationless geocaches.
-
If
you do not provide the required (minimum of two pictures listed above,
please feel free to upload more) pictures in a timely fashion, your log will
be deleted.
-
Each
geocacher or geocaching team may only log this geocache once. Persons
attempting to log this geocache more than once will have their logs deleted.
-
Although
you may only log this geocache once, you will get a nice, warm, fuzzy
feeling if you log an airport that has not been previously
logged.
-
For
the purposes of this geocache an airport may be a traditional commercial or
private airport, heliport or active aircraft carrier. I will also accept R/C
airports provided that you show photographic evidence of a permanent
airstrip and/or club signage at the location. Most R/C clubs have such
items. Flying your R/C plane in the local, vacant parking lot or similar
location does not count as a find.
-
Previous
logs (pre 2/10/2005) are 'grandfathered' as to the new photographic
requirements.
Now
that you know the rules.... go find an airport, take some pictures and log this
fun locationless geocache! Should you have any questions regarding the logging
requirements, feel free to send me an email.
