La plus petite bibliothèque de France
Gérée par une association ayant pour objectif les échanges avec la population à travers les arts et les pratiques artistiques (La Cantonade), cette petite - je devrais dire minuscule - bibliothèque de 10 m2 est réputée être la plus petite de France.
A propos de La Geneytouse
Cette commune rurale de plus de 800 habitants doit son nom à l’abondance des genêts qui poussaient autrefois dans des landes à défricher. Les deux grandes voies antiques qui traversaient son territoire et se croisaient à « La Croix Ferrée » ont fixé l’essentiel de la population qui ne cesse d’augmenter grâce à la proximité de Limoges. Non loin du bourg et de son église d’époque romane, la chapelle des Allois (construite il y a 60 ans) et le nom de « Parc aux Dames » gardent présent le souvenir de l’ancienne abbaye bénédictine fondée là au XIIe siècle. La zone artisanale témoigne d’un regain d’activité économique, après les fermetures des carrières et des tuileries. Mais le savoir-faire des tailleurs de pierre n’a pas disparu : vous le découvrirez à travers le parc des " Pierres Initiatiques de Saint-Nicolas ".
Pourquoi "VERT" ?
Ma première cache posée (GC3VHY2) était une boîte verte, avec un stylo vert, un log book vert et des objets d'échange verts. Ainsi est née l'idée de placer les caches qui ont suivi sous le signe du "VERT" et de proposer un challenge consistant à y déposer de préférence des objets "VERT.
C'est la plus petite : c'est écrit ! / The smallest : it is written !

Managed by an association having for objective the exchanges with the population through the arts and the artistic practices, this small - I should say tiny - library of 10 m2 is considered for being the smallestin France.
About La Geneytouse
This rural district of more than 800 inhabitants gets its name to the abundance of the brooms which urged formerly in moors to clear. The antique two big ways which crossed its territory and crossed in "La Croix Ferrée" fixed the main part of the population which does not stop increasing thanks to the closeness of Limoges. Not far from the village and from its abbey Benedictine church of Romanic period, the chapel of Allois (built 60 years ago) and the name of " Park to the Ladies " keep present the memory of the former based established there in the XIIth century. The small industrial park testifies of a renewal of economic activity, after the closures of quarries and of tileries. But the know-how of the stone-cutters did not disappear: you will discover it through the park of "Pierres Initiatiques de Saint-Nicolas ".
Why "VERT" ?
My first geocache ( GC3VHY2) was a green box, with a green pen, a green log book and green items for exchange. So was born the idea to place the caches which fo llowed under the sign of the "VERT" ("GREEN" in French) and to propose a challenge consisting in depositing there rather "VERT" objects.
