Es war einmal eine Kröte. Die kehrte jedes Jahr zurück an ihre Geburtsstätte. Von ihren Vorfahren hörte sie Geschichten über ein gefährliches, langes, schwarzes Band, das den Weg vom Wald zum Wasser trennte. Gefährlicher als das Band war aber der schwarze Gummi, der röhrend und stinkend darüber donnerte.
Unsere Kröte kennt diese Geschichten nur aus der Überlieferung, denn sie benutzt den komfortablen Tunnel. Auch dieses Jahr verliess die Kröte den Wald und verschwand im dunkeln Gang. Sie hüpfte dem Licht entgegen und kam schon bald auf der anderen Seite wieder hervor. Der Weiher war in Sprungweite, doch dann hörte sie einen lauten Knall und die Erde bebte. Kurz darauf vernahm sie ein Pfeifen und blickte in den Himmel, wo sie einen grossen, fliegenden Stein entdeckt. Im nahen Steinbruch wurde wieder einmal eine Sprengung durchgeführt.
Konnte die Kröte ihre Reflexe und ihre starken "Froschschenkel" nutzen um dem Himmelskörpers auszuweichen? Und wenn sie nicht gestorben ist...

Many thanks to all officials and volunteers who help the amphibians cross the roads. The owner of the nearby nursery has been informed about the cache. It is explicitly wished that there are no activities at night (beware of the dogs!).
Once upon a time there was a toad. Every year it returned to its birthplace. From its ancestors it had heard stories about a dangerous long black band separating the path from the woods to the water. Even more dangerous than the band, they had said, was the black rubber growling along it and leaving stinking smoke behind. Our toad knew these stories from traditions only, as it always uses the comfortable tunnel.
Also this year, the toad had left the woods and disappeared in the dark tunnel. It jumped towards the light and soon came out on the other side. The pond was within jumping distance, but then it suddenly heard a loud bang and the earth was trembling. Seconds later there was a whistling noise from above and the toad looked into the sky where it discovered a big flying rock. Obviously blasts were being conducted in the nearby quarry.
Was the toad able to use its reflexes and strong legs to dodge this celestial body? ...and they lived happily ever after.
