Geocache Description:

Rūjienas mazbānīša perons

LAT: Slēpni veido maza izmēra plastmasas iepakojums ar rakstīšanas blociņu iekšā.. Slēpņa saturs ir nodrošināts pret apkārtējās vides iedarbību – tas ietīts slēgtā plastmasas maisiņā. Slēpnim NAV pievienots rakstāmais, tas jāņem līdzi pašam/pašai! Slēpnis paslēpts netālu no agrākās Rūjienas šaursliežu dzelzceļa stacijas, kur mūsdienās redzams saglabājies perons. Pati stacijas ēka iznīcināta Otrā pasaules kara laikā.

ENG: Cache consists of plastic container with cover. Contents of this cache are protected from environmental affects – container is placed in closed plastic bag. There is logbook in container. The cache does NOT have anything to write with (pen, pencil etc.), so you have to take your own before you visit this cache! Cache consists of little plastic packing with logbook in it. The cache does NOT have anything to write with (pen, pencil etc.), so you have to take your own before you visit this cache! Cache is hidden at former Rujiena narrow gauge railway station, where is only railway platform left. This station has been destroyed during WWII.

ENG: Narrow gauge railway line between Valka and Rūjiena was the first narrow gauge railway line in territory of Latvia. It was opened in 1897 and was exploited until 1944, when German army destroyed many parts (bridges, culverts, stations) of this railway line during army withdrawal. Local inhabitants are telling that Germans even ploughed this line with plough, so Soviet army could not use it. It was never exploited again after WWII, only very small part of this line is working nowadays in Valka. This railway line once was a middle part of much longer narrow gauge railway line between Pļaviņas (Latvia) and Pērnava/Parnu (Estonia). Narrow gauge line between Alūksne and Gulbene is the only one part left of this railway line, which is still exploited for passenger traffic.
