Geocache Description:

This will be our last Adopt-A-Highway CITO, so let's make it the biggest one yet!!!

9:00 a.m. – Meet at coordinates to sign in and listen to a short, mandatory safety meeting.

11:00 a.m. - Make sure trash bags are placed at the base of either AAH sign and vests are returned to the sign-in table. (You may do this earlier; this is just the scheduled end time.)

For those who've not yet participated in one of SWAG's CITO events, we have a 2-mile stretch of road not too far from our Wednesday "clubhouse."  The cache coordinates will take you to the spot where we will be set up to pass out and collect supplies, have the sign-in sheet, and hold a short, mandatory safety meeting. This spot is near the north end of our area.  Our two-mile stretch of Cooper begins at 287 and ends at Harris.

There is no one good spot for parking; however, there is parking available all up and down Cooper at various strip malls and closed businesses. After you've listened to the briefing and collected your supplies, simply pick an area along Cooper, park at one of those spots, and start CITOing.

This area sometimes needs lots of clean up, and sometimes it doesn’t look too bad. Cooper is ALWAYS busy though, so use caution at all times.

Some AAH guidelines to know before you go:
  • Volunteers must wear the safety vests provided by TxDOT during the cleanup.
  • Volunteers must wear gloves. (Not provided)
  • All children must be supervised, and children under 7 may not participate.
  • Stay in the right of way, work facing traffic, and only cross the roadway when necessary.
This is a rain or shine event!

If you are hungry after the clean up, there are many choices for you on 287 and all up and down Cooper itself.

Please watch the event page for any updates! Thanks in advance!

**Additionally**  This is International CITO Weekend, so all who attend will receive a special Geocaching.com souvenir.  Read more about it at:  http://blog.geocaching.com/2014/03/youre-part-of-the-cito-equation/.
