Nach Georg Zacharias Platner (1781-1862) (siehe auch Cache GC51G29) wurde der am 30. Mai 1785 in Hersbruck geborene Johannes Scharrer im Jahr 1836 Vorsitzender der Bayerischen Ludwigsbahn. Am 12. Februar 1833 trat er in den Kreis des vorbereitenden Gremiums für die Bayerische Ludwigsbahn ein, der ersten Eisenbahngesellschaft in Deutschland, die eine Dampflokomotive (Adler) auf ihrer Strecke zwischen Nürnberg und Fürth einsetzte. Er erstellte gemeinsam mit dem Mathematiklehrer Kuppler den Kostenvoranschlag und regelte organisatorische und technische Fragen. Als stellvertretender Direktor war er für die Betriebsordnung (entspricht der heutigen Eisenbahn-Bau- und Betriebsordnung), die jährlichen Rechenschaftsberichte und die Instruktionen für das Dienstpersonal verantwortlich.
Seine anstrengende und pausenlose Arbeit forderte jedoch schließlich ihren Tribut: Am 30. März 1844 verstarb Johannes Scharrer nach einem Schlaganfall im Beisein seiner Söhne. Er wurde auf dem Johannisfriedhof in Nürnberg bestattet. Die Bayerische Ludwigsbahn ließ ihm ein kleines Denkmal setzen. 1865 wurde eine Lokomotive nach ihm benannt. (Quelle: wikipedia.org)

After Georg Zacharia Platner (1781-1862) (see also Cache GC51G29) Johannes Scharrer born on the 30th of May, 1785 in Hersbruck became in the year of 1836 chairpersons of the Bavarian Ludwig's road. On the 12th of February, 1833 he entered into the circle of the preparatory committee for the Bavarian Ludwig's road, the first railway company in Germany which used a steam locomotive (eagle) on her distance between Nuremberg and Fürth. He provided together with the mathematics teacher Kuppler the quotation and regulated organizational and technical questions. As an acting manager he was for the factory regulations (the today's railway construction and factory regulations), the annual account reports and the instructions corresponds for the domestics responsibly.
Nevertheless, his strenuous and uninterrupted work demanded, finally, her tribute: On the 30th of March, 1844 Johannes Scharrer passed away after a stroke in the presence of his sons.
