Os primeiros imigrantes italianos chegaram à região nordeste do RS no ano de 1875 e ali começaram a estabelecer seu novo lar.
Suas prioridades nessa fase inicial eram estabelecer uma sociedade e se dedicarem as atividades produtivas, logo à arquitetura tinha uma atenção residual e pode ser chamada de arquitetura provisória, pois faziam abrigos conforme a disponibilidade de tempo e materiais.
Com o passar dos anos e com muito trabalho a situação foi prosperando e com isso passaram a dar mais atenção a seus lares.
Esse geocache remete justamente a uma réplica das casas dessa época promissora. Nesse período as casas eram de madeira, alvenaria ou pedra. Nas suas composições podiam ou não ter porão e sótão. Os telhados tinham duas ou quatro águas cobertos por tabuinhas. Além disso, as funções do lar eram espalhadas, ou seja, existia a casa de dormir/estar que era maior podendo ter mais de um pavimento e a casa de cozinhar, menor e com apenas um andar.
Um dos motivos pelo qual a cozinha ficou separada da residência principal é o fogo. Nessa época, nos "fogolaros" (plataforma elevada do chão, tipo caixão raso cheio de terra, tendo ao centro o fogo) ainda não se tinha incorporado o chaminé ou se adotado qualquer estratégia para dissipar a fumaça, logo, tudo naquele ambiente ficava preto por causa da fuligem. Isso acabava definindo a composição arquitetônica dessas residências, formada por duas partes unidas por um passadiço.
Com o tempo, a implantação de chaminés e a evolução dos fogões permitiu que a cozinha se aproximasse da casa de dormir até ser incorporada na mesma, essa é a fase de apogeu da arquitetura italiana no RS.

The first Italian immigrants arrived in the northeastern region of the RS in 1875 and there began to establish their new home.
Their priorities in the initial phase were to establish a society and engage productive activities, then the architecture had a residual attention and can be called provisional architecture because shelters were made according to the availability of time and materials.
Over the years with hard work the situation was thriving and they started to give more attention to their homes.
This geocache refers precisely to a replica of the houses of this promising period. During this period the houses were made of wood, masonry or stone. In their compositions may or may not have basement and attic. The roofs had two or four slooping sides covered by tablets. Moreover, the functions of the home were scattered, in other words, there was the house of sleeping / living room which was larger and may have more than one floor and the home cooking, smaller and with only one floor.
One of the reasons why the kitchen was separate from the main residence was fire. At that time, in the "fogolaros" (platform raised off the ground, like shallow coffin filled with earth, with the central fire) the chimney were not been built yet or adopted any strategy to dissipate the smoke, so everything turned black in that environment because of the soot. That ended up setting the architectural composition of these residences, consisting of two parts joined by a footbridge.
Over the time, the deployment of chimneys and the evolution of the kitchen stoves allowed to approach the house sleeping up to be incorporated to it, this stage is the apogee of Italian architecture in RS.
