The Church of St. Peter is the largest building in Sidford.
The foundation stone was laid in July 1866 and the initial building was completed and consecrated in September 1868.
St Peter's is a typical Victorian red brick building with Bath-stone dressing in imitation of the early English style.
Built originally as a chapel of ease. it was licensed to hold services in 1868, but not fully licensed to hold marriages until 1943.
The church is open during the day, and is worth looking inside to admire, amongst other things, the stained glass windows, the octagonal font, the hexagonal pulpit and the brass lectern.
The cache is not within the church grounds but is nearby. There is only room for the log, so please bring your own pen.
There is usually room to park in the side street adjacent to the church.
Congratulations to Devonianfive for FTF
