Geocache Description:

NB This is a Multi Letterbox Hybrid cache.  The published co-ordinates are not where the cache is hidden.
The published co-ordinates are for a wooden bridge near Longwater Lawn where some counting of planks and vertical supports will reveal the answers to "a" "b" and "c" to complete the formula for the final co-ordinates . N.B. The stamp is not a swop

Please note This cache has been placed with the knowledge of the Forestry Commission and in accordance with the New Forest Forestry Commission Permission Agreement . GAGB Agreement for the Forestry Commission New Forest and East Dorset.

The nearest parking for Longwater Lawn is at N 50 52.961 W001 32.824   where there is a small gravel lay-by beside  the south side of the road  leading from Ashurst to Lyndhurst.Access is easiest when travelling westwards. From the lay-by there is a high stile to climb over to gain access into the woodland. It is very near a Number 6 bus stop

Stout footwear recommended because the ground is low lying so often it is moist underfoot in places . Best route to Bridge
From the roadside stile head a couple of hundred metres S.E'ly along woodland trail before heading more Southerly, with an open area on the left. Then further along an open grassy meadow called Mallard Mead which can be glimpsed on the right, where it is unusual not to see ponies grazing, and sometimes Deer. Passing over a gravelled culvert and through more old Beech trees the open area with bridge is then reached.

At the wooden bridge at published co-ords N 50 52.626 W 001 32.488
1.How many planks to step on to get from one side of the bridge to the other = ab
2. Number of vertical posts supporting the hand rail on the east side of the Bridge = c

Final Location N 50 52. (a+b) (b-1) b W 001 32. (b-a) (c) (ab÷2)
Check sum of all the digits = 52

G.P.S. accuracy under the trees at final location, using 3 different models of GPS, was between 10 and 5 metres.
Extra info is that the final cache site is 29 paces from the edge of a wooded area

The cache is a 900ml clip and close plastic container .Inside is  a stamp which should not be removed from the cache. If you collect imprints of letterbox hybrid stamps you will need an ink pad or a felt tip pen .

This cache does not contain any swops. But there is room for medium size  T.B. s  once the F.T.F.prize has been removed . (There is a boxed Table Top Racing Snail for the F.T.F. )
The log book is in a mini container placed inside the 900ml container and should be left inside the 900ml container even if that means not be able to leave one of those larger T.B. s.

You will need a pen or pencil to sign the log.

The Little Bridges series was started by Stanthews in 2009 to highlight small footbridges in remote parts of Wiltshire. Since then the series has been expanded by others all over the country and starting to spread fast, Damian from Winter Foxes has created and updates a list of cachers who has found 10 or more little bridges and can be found here, if you would like to add to the series, please contact Stan here and he will give you a number for your bridge, to qualify, the bridge must be a foot bridge too small for vehicles, please make sure your title exactly matches “Little Bridges # xx then name” including spaces so it will get picked up and added to Damian’s list.

If you need to contact us please use email which we regulary check and not the new message thingy which we find difficult to use and rarely check (added November 2016)
