A quick hike and grab on the way to Pluto (BYOP)
This cache is ~1-1/2 miles from the new bridge. It is a small sized cache, capable of holding small swag and trackables - also, bring a pen/pencil. The FTF Prize is a dollar Sacajawea coin and a trackable to move along.
The cache is a replacement for A House Overlooking Mars (Conejo Cyns #5). This was requested to be archived by a park ranger when she found the pieces of the house strewn about The cache was probably exposed when the rocks were removed to delineate the trail to the lookout (nice views) and vandalized shortly thereafter.
Today was the first day I hiked up here since I broke my leg - it was good exercise and it felt good to be back out on the trails and have a chance to assess the situation of the house (and see if a replacement cache could be hidden). The house was situated to be far enough away from Mars to not be influenced by its gravity, as this cache also had to be. Hopefully this one is hidden well enough so the rocks aren't cannibalized
Trailhead and parking information is described in Western Gate to the Western Plateau
*****Congratulations to Studio Medical for FTF *****
Happy Caching! A cache a day keeps the doctor away
Feedback is always appreciated on the difficulty/terrain ratings, cache descriptions, etc - thanks.
