Thursday 29th May 2014
from 6pm to 10:30pm
At The Dukes Head, Beare Green, Surrey,
RH5 4QP
Tel: 01306 712 612
As you come in the front entrance, go left and there's a room reserved for us. If the room looks a bit empty, we're likely to be outside in the beer garden! Children are particularly welcome at this event, the pub has a playground and plenty of space to run around in.
Please Note: The event is on the 5th Thursday of the Month, rather than the usual 4th Thursday. This is due to the first of the month being on a Thursday. If I held this event on the 4th Thursday it would be the day after the Sussex one on the 21st, and people are then unlikely to go to both!
The Mad Hatter's Tea Party!
As an extra bit of fun, there will be a competition for the person wearing the best 'mad hat'! There is one rule, you must be wearing the hat as you enter the pub, and up until the moment you sign the log. Open to adults and children alike, the more the merrier and first prize will be an event themed trackable. Go on, go mad!
A Geocaching Event - Why Go?
It's a great way to meet fellow cachers and share caching stories (or even pick up a few hints for those puzzles) over a glass or two. If you've never been to an event before you'll be made very welcome, whether you are from Surrey, or farther afield. There will be the normal opportunity to swap and discover Travel Bugs and Geocoins.
The pub does food from 6pm and they would appreciate a bit of an idea of numbers, so please can you log a 'will attend' with some indication of whether you are likely to want to eat, so we can be courteous and let them know. Phone them on the number above if you want to know anything about the pub or menus
Other monthly events in neighbouring counties.
The Surrey events have been inspired by the success of the Sussex and Hampshire meets and are nominally held on the fourth Thursday of every month. They are organized by local cachers and can be held anywhere in the county of Surrey. We are constantly looking for fresh volunteers to host events in different parts of the county.
