The Helena, Montana GeoTour highlights the unspoiled nature and history of Montana’s Capital City area.
150 years ago, four miners who were down on their luck decided to give it one last go and struck it rich on what became known as Last Chance Gulch in Downtown Helena. Today the gold panners on the Gulch have been replaced with geocachers. Come walk in the miners' steps and celebrate the modern day treasure hunt, geocaching.
As Helena celebrates Rand McNally's "Best Town for Geocaching" title, we're rolling out the red carpet at our annual Capital City Cachers Geocaching Event. Helena is located half-way between Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks near Interstate 15 and Highway 12.
This year's prizes will be the best ever - in addition to the GPS give-away, prizes will include CASH, a Glacier raft trip for four, high quality Nikon binoculars and much, much more!
Honoring Helena's 150th Birthday, 150 event trackable geocoins will be given out in a drawing at the event. These original and unique event coins will highlight Helena's 150 years.
Event t-shirts with Helena Montana's 150th Birthday logo will be available for purchase. The family fun games will include: toss the GPS, dunk a cacher (anyone want to nominate MontanaScarecrow to take the first round of hits?), water balloon toss, poker run, log rolling contest, sapphire search and more! You may even be able to get meet geocaching mascot Signal the Frog.
The Capital City Cachers will provide a main dish of pulled pork sandwiches and fried chicken with hot dogs for the kids, bring a dish to share if you'd like. Please comment if you're coming and what you'll bring

We will finalize the 2013 Travel Bug race and starting a new one. entry for the furthest traveled and the most caches visited.
Travel Bug Race Rules
This is an “honor system” race of Travel Bugs among friends and fellow cachers. You may enter up to two TB’s per person. Geocoins may be entered also. (enter up to 2 TB’s or 2 Coins or 1 TB and 1 Coin) All TB’s must be trackable @ www.geocaching.com with Zero miles on them. The TB/Coin used to race must have Zero miles and must be dropped in the event. All Travel Bugs must be registered by June 22nd (at the event) The TB’s may only be moved once per cacher. Participants of this Race may not move or impede the progress of any competitor’s bugs. All decisions will be made by the Capital City Cachers TB Race Committee. All TB’s/Geocoins must be present and “Check In” at the Event. . Race starts 6/22/2014 and ends at next years event
You may want to also state on your TB page This Travel Bug is participating in a TB/Geocoin race. It is trying to travel from cache to cache as quickly as possible in order to accumulate miles. Please try to move this along as quickly as you can and do not place it in caches with a high difficulty or terrain rating. This Travel Bug may only be moved ONCE by any Geocacher. This race is on-going from June 2014 until June 2015. Thank you for your help.
