Geocache Description:

Enjoy a walk (or 3)across the Marsh. There are a number of different routes you can take depending on how you wish to tackle these caches. Please see below for more details.

From #46 walk down the lane between the houses into Old Romney. Turn right at the end and follow the lane around past the park.

From #2 turn left from the bridge you just crossed and continue up the lane towards Old Romney.

If you've just finished the Pylon Plod... don't forget to pick up the Pylon Plod Bonus cache!

This is the first cache if you are following the Marsh Mosh Power Trail. Park you car in Old Romney and follow the caches in either order around the full loop. The Marsh Mosh trail does NOT include the Marsh Mosh Multi Caches... those are short cuts for the shorter trails.

All routes are completely flat (not a single hill for miles!) and include only the occasional stile to clamber over. You will be walking on public rights of way and paths through fields and quiet lanes throughout your journey.

Please be mindful of traffic (although it should be sparse), any farm equipment you may encounter, livestock and waterways. Rest and refreshment is available in Old Romney, Brookland and Lydd (although the latter is a little off the route).

Walland Marsh is the section of Romney Marsh on which these routes will let you explore. It's name means 'Wall Land' derived from the achient route of the Rhee Wall which runs between New Romeny and Appledore. The Rhee Wall is the north eastern boarder of Walland Marsh.

Among other settlements Walland Marsh includes Rye, Camber, Appledore, Lydd, New Romney, Old Romney, Brenzett and Brookland, some of which you will get to visit as part of these caches. This area is now largely farm land which is supported by an extensive irregation network of waterways known locally as sewers.

As well as traditional farming such as livestock (sheep) and crops, more modern uses of land also dominate the area. These walks will take you past a brand new solar farm, an impossing wind farm and underneath the towering pylons that connect Dungeness Nuclear power station to National Grid... I guess that really does make this a "Power Trail!" You will also see some of the areas ruins such as the old church at Midley and an abandoned farm at Lower Agney. There are also many other caches that you may want to collect along the way that are not part of this series.

The suggested routes that make up this series are as follows:

1: The Windy Waltz (16 Caches / 9 miles) - Starting at cache #28 near Brookland. This route takes you south through the wind farm to cache #17. To return to your starting point use Marsh Mosh Multi #5 and then Marsh Mosh Multi #6, and then #30 & #29. Caches are marked [WW] in the title. When complete you will also be able to find the Windy Waltz BONUS cache. See the blue route on the map below.

2: The Solar Stroll (18 caches / 9 miles) - Starting at cache #46 near Old Romney. This route takes you north west past the solar farm to cache #31 near Brookland.  To return to your starting point use Marsh Mosh Multi #1 and Marsh Mosh Multi #2. Caches are marked [SS] in the title. When complete you will also be able to find the Solar Stroll BONUS cache. See the green route on the map below.

3: The Pylon Plod (18 caches / 9 miles) - Start this route using Marsh Mosh Multi #3 and then Marsh Mosh Multi #4. To return to your starting point pick up the southern edge of the main loop at cache #16 and follow the numbers in descending order to cache #1. Caches are marked [PP] in the title. When complete you will also be able to find the Pylon Plod BONUS cache. See the red route on the map below.

... or for the intrpid ...

4: The Power Trail (15 miles) - The Full loop of 46 traditional/letterbox caches starting at cache #1 in Old Romney. This route can be done in either direction. When complete you will also be able to find the Power Trail BONUS cache. Please note: The multi caches are not part of this loop. They are used for shortcuts for the smaller loops (WW, SS & PP). See the black route on the map below.

5: The Multi Mash (12 miles) - 6 Multi Caches and a bonus that make up an inner loop (these caches can also be used as shortcuts). This route is best started from Brookland and progressing from #1 through to #6. By doing this you will end up back at the start point. When complete you will also be able to find the Multi Mash BONUS cache.  See the purple route on the map below.
