Geocache Description:

Reed2ME has been asked by local Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts to host a geocaching event to introduce Scouts to geocaching.  Geocachers, come one, come all to share your knowledge of Geocaching while earning your CITO souvenir for your profile.  Scouts, come learn what a geocaching hide looks like then find the rest of the Yaruhha Dwarven Treasure, Topsham GeoTrail while we Cache In Trash Out!

12:30 meet at the coordinates to team up to CITO!  We will form up to twelve teams of Geocachers and Scouts.  Each team will be assigned a physical hide on the Yaruhha Dwarven Treasure, Topsham GeoTrail to find.  This will give the Scouts a guided first find.  Once at the find, teams will verify the container is in good working order.  If it is not, the team will be able to replace the hide with materials provided by Reed2ME.  After the first finds, we will meet back at the coordinates to verify the Yaruhha Dwarven Treasure, Topsham GeoTrail is alive and well.  Let the geocaching begin as we CITO this favorite spot! Geocaches as well as EarthCaches are placed as part of this GeoTrail. The YDT TGT is the first GeoTrail placed in Topsham that is designed for parking once to find over fifteen hides on foot along trails. Newbies, families and Scouts are welcome to attend!  A group photo will be taken after the first finds are complete.

Please bring gloves, water and snacks with you. The bathrooms will be open during this event. There are trails, open fields as well as a playground. Bring your outside toys and celebrate spring! New Geocachers, Scout Troops, parents with young children, friendly dogs, friends that can be talked into a good time and geocachers everywhere are welcome to attend! This event will be rain or shine since we know most of you have geocached in the rain!

These trails are under Shoreline Clean up Rules and some areas are in a 100 year flood plan. We will not be using any power hand tools, just our hands and pick up tools, to clear the trails of branches and trash as we hunt for geocaches and EarthCaches. We have permission to drop filled bags at the Topsham Parks and Rec office. If you are willing to take bags over, please let us know.

At 1:15pm, we will be meeting for a group photo on the bleachers between the main parking lot and bathrooms. This will be a time to share travel bugs and geocoins before CITO begins. The playground can be viewed from this area while the GeoKids get a chance to meet and play.

At 4:00pm, we will close up shop and lock the bathrooms.
