We're having lunch at the top of Old Rag! To get there in time, we'll set off from the indicated parking coordinates promptly at 8 am. Old Rag is a very busy destination during the spring and summer months, and it's a much better hike if one can start off ahead of the crowd. This event is weather dependent, since a few of the hike features are dangerously slick during rainfall.
You may have noticed the musical notes in the name of the event. Let's all join in a rendition of "You're a Grand Old Rag" at the top! For the curious: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/You're_a_Grand_Old_Flag
To get to the event, you'll have to make a strenuous hike of approximately 7-9 miles, depending on who you ask. It includes 2500 feet of elevation change. Bring comfortable hiking shoes or boots, plenty of water, a lunch, and whatever other supplies or hiking implements that you prefer. See the Related link above for more information on the hike.
Theoretically, you could also reach the top by descending from a helicopter or jumping from the edge of the atmosphere a la Felix Baumgartner, though determining the logistics for such transportation is up to you.
Send me an email if you would like my contact info. Any additional information will be added as event announcements.
Please note: this event is taking place at the top of Old Rag. The log will only be available at the top of the mountain!
