Geocache Description:

This is the first event hosted by the Mesilla Valley Bosque State Park as part of their Navigation Series. The events are geared towards learning how to navigate. Please check-in at the visitor center to meet up with the Ranger leading the event.

Compass Treasure Hunt, Saturday March 22nd, 9am-12pm

Follow an adventurous course through the Bosque! Using a compass and a map, learn how to set a bearing and navigate to hidden destinataions. Fun for all ages and families.

While most geocachers rely on the GPS for navigation, map and compass navigation skill to supplement your GPS device. It is also useful for certain types of geocaches which require waypoint projections. This Ranger led activity will help learn the basics. After you learn your skills, come find some of the 20+ geocaches already in the park.

This program is free with a valid park pass (5$ per vehicle). For more information please contact MVBSP at 575-523-4398.
