Pimp my Pump: 3D Rubik's Cube Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

ArizonaSmith: Too bad these pumps are not what they used to be, the paint is not renewed, and they are (once again) slowly deteriorating. Above all, seems like Velesajam is going to be demolished, so with great regret, I am archiving all the PmP caches in Velesajam.

Geocache Description:

For the story behind Pimp my Pump crew, all references, info, water pumps, and projects check Pimp my Pump: The Headquarters geocache, all the PmP news and a complete list of all pimped pumps will be there, up to date. Also, paint on the pumps, and especially on the floor, unfortunately deteriorates with time, so the pumps can be rather different looking than their pictures in the listing...

EN: In recent years, you’ve probably seen some incredibly real 3D works on the internet, which appeared to be painted on completely flat sidewalks. What is the secret?
They are using a projection called anamorphosis, which is a distorted projection or perspective requiring the viewer to stand at the certain point or use a special device to see the correct image. Looking at it from any other point, you see a heavily distorted image.
Several street artists emerged as the best in this line of work: Edgar Mueller, Eduardo Relero, Julian Beever, Manfred Stader and Kurt Wenner. Visit their sites to see their masterpieces (which, sadly, disappear after the first rain), or see them all together here.

Using this technique, PmP team created Rubik's cube, once again moving the boundaries of their already fantastic work. A must see.
Just a little something about Rubik's cube : 3D combination puzzle created in 1974 by Hungarian sculptor and professor of architecture, Erno Rubik. It sold more than 350 million copies, making it the world's top selling puzzle game.
There are 6 different colored sides with 9 squares each. They can rotate around their axes, making more than 43 quintillion possible combinations, but every one of them can be solved in less than 30 moves, in less than 8 seconds.

This pump is placed inside of a Zagreb's Fair. There is not much going on in there, a lot of empty pavillions, but some of them host some free time sport activities, so people regularly go in. The closest entrance is „West 3“ (on Waypoint 1), and you can get in with a car, taking the parking ticket which is FREE if you leave the premises in less than half an hour. I suppose this is more than enough for you to find the cache. Main entrance to the Fair (Waypoint 2) is also fine, there's a parking there, but you have to continue on foot. So, the cache is NOT available at night, after the Fair closes. On another matter, I was stunned by the state of distruction and neglection in which I found Velesajam (Zagreb's Fair). You will see for yourself.

Few examples of anamorphosys in street art.

Must see!

Vidjet ćete i sami...

Za priču o Pimp my Pump ekipi, reference, informacije, ofarbane gradske pumpe, i ostale projekte provjerite Pimp my Pump: The Headquarters geocache, sve PmP vijesti te kompletna recentna lista spimpanih pumpi će biti tamo.
