The cache is located near the old railway bridge. under which the Somerset and Dorset Joint Railway ran between Bath Green Park Station and Bournemouth. It passed through long forgotton stations in the area such as Cole for Bruton, Evercreech junction, Wincanton and many more. I can just about remember it being open in the mid sixties when I started my first job at the old Cow and Gate factory in Wincanton, we would load box vans parked in the railway dock.
With an amazinig lack of foresight the line was closed by the Beeching report, and if that wasn't enough the line was torn up.
