In a stone cottage just off the hurly-burly, there is an information terminal, where you can retrieve information on the surroundings. The device´s neat highlight: take a snapshot of yourself and send it directly by e -mail.
Strážný´s (f. Kunžvart, German Kuschwarda) history dates back to the 17th century. It originated as a settlement at the Golden Trail (Zlata stezka), a network of trade routes that have connected Bohemia with the Danube during the Middle Ages (see picture).
In 1833, the still important road from Passau to Prague was opened.
In 1945/46, the German inhabitants were expelled from their home and expropriated without compensation.
The village with its approximately 430 inhabitants is nowadays known for its border tourism, where you can buy high-quality brand products at affordable prices ... ;-)
The skiing area, beneath the 1115m high mountain Strážný, consists of three button lifts that comprise easy and moderate forest aisle slopes.
A sight worth seeing are the ruins of the castle Kunžvart, located on the mountain Strážný. It was built in the 14th century and burned down in 1578.

Strážnýs (dt. Kuschwarda) Geschichte geht zurück ins 17. Jahrhundert. Es entstand als Niederlassung am Goldenen Steig (Zlatá stezka), einem Netz aus Handelswegen, das seit dem Mittelalter Böhmen mit der Donau verband (siehe Bild).
1833 entstand die noch heute bedeutende Straße von Passau nach Prag.
1945/46 wurden die deutschen Bewohner aus ihrer Heimat vertrieben und entschädigungslos enteignet.
Bekannt ist der Ort mit seinen etwa 430 Einwohnern heute für seinen Grenztourismus; hier kann man hochwertige Markenprodukte zu erschwinglichen Preisen erstehen... ;-)
Im Skigebiet, unterhalb des 1115m hohen Berges namens Strážný, befinden sich drei Tellerlifte, die leichte bis mittelschwere Waldschneisenabfahrten mit knapp 1 Kilometer Länge erschließen.
Sehenswert ist die Burgruine Kunžvart auf dem Berg Strážný, erbaut im 14. Jahrhundert. Sie brannte 1578 nieder.
