In the spirit of Earth Day, let's give back to a worthy cause and help clean up one of Maine's prettiest spots. Mount Agamenticus.
It is once again that time of year, when geocachers all across the World gather together and give back. This year we are once again helping out one of the prettiest spots in Maine. The Mount Agamenticus Conservation Region. If you have never been to Mt. A you don't know what you are missing. The views from the summit stretch from the blue ocean to the East and the White Mountains to the West. There are miles of trails to walk, hike or mountain bike. It is truly a beautiful place to spend the day with family, or friends. If you have been here in the past, you will definitely want to come back again this year.
The schedule:
- 9:30AM We will meet at the maintenance barn to the left of the summit for a morning meeting.
- 10:00AM We will break up into groups and clean up the trails and access roads to Mt. A.
- 12:30 - 1:00PM We will finish up in time for lunch back at the Learning Lodge at the summit.
THE EVENT WILL TAKE PLACE RAIN OR SHINE
What you need to know:
- dress appropriately, long pants and long sleeves, and boots, as the roads may still be muddy.
- bring a pair of comfortable gloves, as what we will pick up is not always very sanitary.
- we have a small pick up, if someone has another one we can use to shuttle trash in please post it.
- bring coffee or a beverage for breakfast, and a snack or lunch, for after the hard work is done.
- some of the trash may be large and heavy, never know what some people will throw away.
- trash bags will be supplied
- the hard work will be supplied by the best people in Maine and New Hampshire......geocachers
Thanks to everyone who shows up here on April 26th, or participates in another CITO event around the World. Together geocachers can and will make a difference and keep the great outdoors a better and cleaner place for everyone to enjoy.
