To commemorate the international following of "the Hobbit" and Geocaching community friendship across the ocean, a unique cache in both countries has been established in "The Shires" of the two different locations.
In order to find this cache, you must view cache page GC4ZZ1Z and team up with a Foreign Exchange Cacher who has posted a note seeking help. They in turn, will assist you with information you need to find the cache in your area.
Rules : Cachers can go to this link here and post a note that they are looking for a foreign cacher to help them find the cache in their area. That partner will go to the posted coordinatess on their local cache page to get information to help their international partner find the cache in their area.
Example: The New Zealand cacher will go to the coordinates posted and get the information that will help the Wisconsin partner find the Wisconsin cache.
When posting a "found" log, the finding cacher is requested to put in their log who they teamed up with to find the cache. It is suggested that cachers who have already "found" or have teamed up with another cacher should not help anyone else. This can not be a requirement though.
Finding the cache in Wisconsin (GC4ZZ1Z) : Go to the posted coordinates in New Zealand and you will find a four-digit set of numbers beneath the angel (on the east side of the monument). Note these numbers. The first two digits will be X, the last two digits will be Y.
The cache location for the Wisconsin cache is:
N43 02.(14250 divided by X) W88 08.(17385 divided by Y)
Finding the cache in New Zealand (GC4Z9A4): Go to the posted coordinates in Wisconsin. You should be in The Shire by a small Hobbit house. Look at the door of Bilbo’s home for a five digit number. That number is “ABCDE”.
