Auguste Delaune, born in 1908, was General Secretary of the Sport and Gymnastics Federation. Member of the French Communist Party, and a clandestine regional leader, he was arrested for an act of resistance and was interned at the Aincourt camp. He escaped, but was recaptured by the French police and tortured to death by the German police. He died September 12, 1943 at the age of 34 years. Mentioned in despatches, in May 1947, he became Knight of the Legion of Honor, posthumously.
Auguste Delaune, né en1908, fut secrétaire général de la Fédération sportive et gymnique du travail. Membre du Parti communiste français, dirigeant régional clandestin en Normandie-Bretagne, il est arrêté pour acte de résistance, il est interné au camp d'Aincourt. Evadé, il est repris en 1943, par la police française et torturé à mort par la police allemande. Il meurt le 12 septembre 1943 à l'âge de 34 ans. Cité à l'ordre de la Nation, il est fait, en mai 1947, Chevalier de la Légion d'honneur à titre posthume.
