Geocache Description:

A meet and greet event at 3pm at Milagro's Coffee. Get to know some of the local cachers, or just meet up with friends. Las Cruces is a great area for geocaching, let's show it some love!

You may already know, but Groundspeak is trying out a special promotion this month, I <3 Geocaching. If you haven't already heard of this, it is an opportunity to try out a different sort of goecache, a Lab-cache. What is a lab-cache? Well it's admittedly vague, but in essence it is a way for Groundspeak to try out different kinds of geocaching ideas without disrupting the current geocaching database. Until this month, the only lab-caches that came out coincided with Mega Events. But for this month, any premium member is given an opportunity to try out a new geocache interface through the I <3 Geocaching promotion. If you are a Premium Member, you will be able to create a lab-cache for someone to find during the Month of February. Unlike regular Geocache listings, the lab-cache is highly personalized, and not necessarily bounded by the normal geocaching guidelines. As long as you are obeying local laws, you can create whatever you like. It is an opportunity to try something a little different, or make a kind gesture to one of your best geocaching buds. For more details check out the link above.

To spice up this event a little, I will be creating a Lab Cache for anyone to find. At 12:00 noon the day of the event, I will be posting the URL for the lab-cache by making an announcement on this cache page, so make sure you post a "will attend" if you want to try to find this lab cache. The Lab-Cache will be a scavenger-hunt showcasing Geocaching in Las Cruces. Anyone participating can earn points by completing tasks. The Geocacher with the most points will get first pick from a Prize-basket which will include among other things, the Completion Code for the Lab Cache. Although only one Geocacher-ID can claim the Completion Code and earn the Lab-Cache Icon, the Scavenger Hunt should have something fun for everyone. If you would also be interested in creating a Lab Cache to coincide for this event or would like to "donate" your Lab-Cache Completion Code to the Prize-basket, send me an email or post some details in your "will attend" log.
