What if... Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

MartijnCZ: Too much has changed over the years to keep the cache and the stages in their original format. I might think of something new though.
Thanks for all the positive comments, see you at the next cache!

Geocache Description:

What if

…you don’t have it with you?

For all of us who don´t speak Czech that well, to show that caching in another language adds another level and can thus be even more exiting, and in the hope I have created a pleasant trip for you. I wish you all the fun you are seeking, and the best of luck. Don´t forget to read the text, krok za krokem, or you might get disappointed at the end…

Veel plezier.

Mainly from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Water is the most common liquid on Earth. It covers about 71.4% of the Earth. Pure water has no smell, taste, or color. Lakes, oceans, and rivers are made of water. Rain is water that falls from clouds in the sky. If water gets very cold, it freezes and becomes ice. Frozen rain can be ice or snow if conditions permit. If water gets very hot, it boils and becomes steam. Water is very important for life. However, some studies suggest that by 2025 more than half of the people around the world will not have enough water. If you do not wish to be one of them for today, take with you at least 5 litres of water (doesn’t have to be potable) in such a way that you can pour it quickly in one go. Plus of course the amount you would like to drink (potable).

Water is a fluid. Water is the only substance on earth that exists naturally in three states. People know of over 40 anomalies about water. The anomalous properties of water are those where the behavior of liquid water is quite different from what is found with other liquids. When water freezes, it expands by about 9%. This expansion can cause pipes to break if the water inside them freezes. Therefore, pipes used in open structures exposed to the elements are normally equipped with drain holes. It is also the reason why ice floats on water.

Plants and animals (including people) are mostly water inside, and must drink water to live. It gives a medium for chemical reactions to take place, and is the main part of blood. It keeps the body temperature the same by sweating from the skin. Water helps blood carry nutrients from the stomach to all parts of the body to keep the body alive. Water also helps the blood carry oxygen from the lungs to the body. Saliva, which helps animals and people digest food, is mostly water. Water helps make urine. Urine helps remove bad chemicals from the body. The human body is between 60% and 70% water.

Water is the main component of drinks like milk, juice, and wine. Each type of drink also has other things that add flavor or nutrients, things like sugar, fruit, and sometimes alcohol. Water that a person can drink is called "potable water" (or "drinking water"). The water in oceans is salt water, but lakes and rivers usually have unsalted water. Only about 3% of all the water on earth is fresh water. The rest is salt water.

Water is a molecule made of 2 hydrogen atoms and 1 oxygen atom. Its chemical formula is H2O. Water has a surface tension, so a little water makes drops on a surface, rather than spreading out to wet the surface. Water can also be called 'aqua', which is the Roman word for water. Water is also used for recreational purposes. Though a human being can survive for up to a week without food, they can only survive for a day or two without water. A few desert animals can get enough water from their food, but the others must drink.

The cache can be found after a walk of approximately 2,5 km from the suggested parking place. After 3 km you will be back at the parking place. On your way, you will have to complete a few easy tasks to calculate your next heading.

  • Ok, If you come by car you can park at N50 47.965 E15 02.535.

Otherwise, there are 2 bus stops with busses from Liberec centre close by, as well as a railway station.

For now, don’t forget the water.

  1. N 50° 47.972 E 015° 02.537 While already fantasizing about your reward today, look for the number on the utility pole. Use only the numbers. They represent (A)(B)(C)(D)(E). Your next coordinate will be;            N50 48.(B-C)(E-2)(A*C)  E015 02.(((B+C)*E)-1)(D+1)
  2. Count the number of fence poles on the part of the fence parallel to  the road (yrsg fvqr bs gur ebnq). The answer -1 represents (F)(G). Your next coordinate will be;     N50 48.((G-F)*E)(C+G-F)  E015 03.(A)(C+G)(C+G-F)
  3. What is the number on the box attached to this pole? The answer represents H)(I). Your next coordinate will be;    N50 48.(H)(B+H)(H*(H-F)  E015 03.(D-H)(H*H)(C+G)
  4. The number on this pole is LB (J)(K)(L)(M)(N). Your next coordinate will be;   N50 48.(G)(L)(M)  E015 02.(I)(L*H)(E+J)
  5. From the last point up to here you’ve been walking on a cycling route. The number of the cycling route was displayed on 2 signs attached to poles you passed since the last coordinate up to now (yellow signs). What is the number of the cycling route? The answer represents (O)(P)Q)(R).  How many cows can you see from here? The answer represents (S). Your next coordinate will be;     N50 48.(O-F)(M+O)((S*Q)+N)  E015 02.(M+L)(O)(R)
  6. Somebody has built a bridge. How creative! And so convenient for us today! How many vertical poles are used visibly, both sides of the bridge together? This answer will represent (T). Your next and final coordinate will be;     N50 48.(K-L)(L-F)(M)  E015 02.(N)((T+R)-(M+D))(N+F)
  7. If calculated well, you’ll have only one task ahead of you before you can celebrate todays find. You have to find the key, and a way to grab it. The rubber ducky guards a clue, as well as the text above and of course the hint. Good luck, be quick and please put everything back the way you found it when you’re done.
  8. Find your way back smiley
