Geocache Description:

A nice little bridge in the middle of nowhere, near Pucklechurch.

I called this cache " St Aldam's Well" as on the OS map there is a feature nearby with that name.   Though I didn't actually see the well. The well was mentioned in a 1933 newspaper article about the nearby pub:

"In the yard of a farm, called St Aldam's Ash, is one of Gloucestershire's ancient holy wells, St Aldelm's Well."

Some additional information on St. Aldam: (Thanks to The Odyssians): ADA (-after 1241). The Annales Londonienses name "Margaretam, Isabellam, Matildam, et Aldam" as the four daughters of "comiti David", recording the marriage of "la tierce fille Davi" and "sire Henri de Hastinges". m (before 7 Jun 1237) Sir HENRY de Hastings, of Ashill in Norfolk, son of WILLIAM de Hastings & his first wife Margery Bigod of Norfolk (-before 9 Aug 1250). Earl David had [four] illegitimate children by Mistresses Aldam was the third daughter of David, a Scottish count. Her sister Isabel lived in Saltre Abbey, Stilton, Glos. which may or may not be the link to Pucklechurch, via a link with St Dunstan and Glastonbury Abbey. The family today are the Earls of Huntington.

If anyone has further information about the well and St. Aldelm please let me know and I will add it to the cache page.

A typical footbridge which is a short walk from Pucklechurch. I found this spot whilst on my way to Rootaround. You can continue on to there if you wish or further, there are many other caches in the area.

Waypoints are for the easiest approach but it can be approached from other directions.

The Little Bridges series was started by Stanthews in 2009 to highlight small footbridges in remote parts of Wiltshire. Since then the series has been expanded by others all over the country and starting to spread fast. There is a stats listing, so you can see how many Little Bridges you have found, you can find it here:- www.littlebridgesseries.co.uk . If you would like to add to the series, please contact Stan via the Little Bridges website with your caching name, name of your Little Bridge and the GC code and he will give you a number for your bridge. To qualify, the bridge must be a foot bridge too small for vehicles, please make sure your title exactly matches "Little Bridges # xxxx then the name" including spaces so it will get picked up and added to stats list.
