Cette série vous propose de partir à la découverte des sobriquets dont sont affublés les habitants des villes et villages d'Alsace.
Par la grâce de la langue alsacienne, ces sobriquets qui parfois servent encore pour désigner les habitants de telle ou telle localité, sont tour à tour moqueurs, acides mais toujours très imagés !
Vous découvrirez dans chaque cache le sobriquet alsacien du village où elle se trouve, sa traduction française et idéalement une explication de son origine.

La ville de Sélestat a une ancienne tradition maraîchère d'où découle le sobriquet des Sélestadiens. Il s'agit de « Zewwelatreppler » qui se traduit par « Piétineurs d'oignons ». Ce sobriquet évoque la technique utilisée par les maraîchers de Sélestat au moment des semis. Ils accrochaient des planches sous leurs sabots et piétinaient les jeunes bulbes d'oignons dans les champs afin de les faire entrer en terre.
