Detroit/Belle Isle Year IX Event Cache

8:30am- 10am Breakfast at Big Boy Restaurant, corner of E. Jefferson at E. Grand Blvd across from Belle Isle.

Traditionally we have raffled off the chance at a possible FTF on the new caches on the island here at this event. This will be the biggest change for the event this year as the raffle will now be held at our meeting shelter on Belle Isle.

10:30am All cachers meet at the shelter near Aquarium for the raffle followed by the handing out of the lists of all new caches. We are also working on gpx files of the caches that will be on our laptops and jump drives. So bring your cables for downloads. Your jump drives will help as you can get the file and upload to your computer and then any GPS’s in your group. We will also have them available for your phones, so please send a note with the e-mail address as to where you want the file to be sent once we release them. Be sure to also log a will attend the pot luck and hot dogs event at shelter bring your drinks and munchies. Feel free to bring passing dishes, to add to the picnic goodies. This will be a drop in picnic, so cache as you want and if you need a bite stop by for some food and chat.

Be sure to bring your boots! Though you can get away without Them remember that the snow just melted off and there is a lot of standing water. Also the geese love this island, do I need to say more?

Belle Isle is truly one of Detroit’s gems.
Spring is a great time to cache the island, less muggles, and cooler temps. There are caches placed in many interesting areas of the island. Currently there are 45, or so, caches on the island. There are plans to place new permanent caches on the island.
