BANDA DAS LAPAS
O Porto da Cruz tem muitos recantos desconhecidos, e o sítio da Banda das Lapas é um deles. Não sei muito bem a origem do seu nome, mas penso que se deve à zona que se encontra junto ao mar ser um lugar onde as lapas abundam.
Não vos vou levar até ao mar, mas sim a uma zona por baixo da Penha d’Águia, onde antigamente os terrenos eram cultivados e havia gado a pastar. Hoje em dia, só no início da levada é que conseguimos observar alguns terrenos cultivados e na zona da cache apenas restam os palheiros de outros tempos.
O local oferece-nos paisagens diferentes sobre a vila do Porto da Cruz e arredores, e também vistas díspares para a Penha d’Águia.
Para a cache encontrar, terão que ir pela estrada regional e subir por um caminho inclinado (T1) até ao final e lá estacionar o carro da melhor forma possível. Se preferirem poderão deixar o carro na estrada regional e subir o caminho a pé.
O início da levada encontra-se depois de um quintal de uma casa (T2). Depois de iniciarem a levada deverão seguir sempre pela levada e depois pelo trilho que lá se encontra até perto do palheiro. Atenção que depois de terminarem a levada e iniciarem o trilho, o terreno merece alguma atenção. Sejam cuidadosos.
Porto da Cruz has many unknown places, and Banda das Lapas place is one of them.
I'm not sure the origin of its name, but I think it is due to the area that is next to the sea is a place where limpets abound.
I am not going to take to the sea, but to an area beneath the Penha d'Águia, where formerly land were cultivated and cattle were grazing. Nowadays, only the beginning of the levada is that we can observe some cultivated land and in the area of cache only the barns of yesteryear remain.
The place offers different views over the village of Porto da Cruz area, and also disparate views of Penha d'Águia.
To find the cache, will have to go through the regional road and climb up a sloping road (T1) by the end there and park the car in the best possible way. If may prefer to leave the car on the regional road and walk up the path.
The beginning of the levada is after a backyard of a house (T2). After starting the levada should always follow the levada and then along the path you'll find there until near the haystack. Note that after completing the levada and start the path, the terrain deserves some attention. Be careful.
