Liepnas - toreiz Lipnas - muiža 19. gs./20. gs. sākumā bija galvenais pagasta saimnieciskās dzīves rosinātājs. Sekojot tirgus pieprasījumam, Liepnas muižas īpašnieks ap 1900. gadu Liepnas upītes krastā uzcēla jaunu alus brūzi - izteiksmīgu, no plēstiem akmeņiem un ķieģeļiem mūrētu četru stāvu celtni ar vairākām koka piebūvēm - administratīvo ēku, strādnieku un meistara dzīvokļiem. Brūzi vainagoja liels ķieģeļu skurstenis, kura galā, vēl šodien saglabājies, grozījās vēja rādītājs ar ažūrā tehnikā iestrādātu gadaskaitli "1903". Pēc 1920. gadā dzimušās liepnēnietes, skolotājas Austras Brices atmiņām, brūža darītais alus bijis iecienīts plašākā apkārtnē un vests tirgošanai arī uz Balviem, Viļaku un Jaunlatgali (Abreni). 1944. gadā Liepnā tika izcīnītas sīvas kaujas starp uzbrūkošo sarkanarmiju un atkāpjošos vācu karaspēku. Kauju laikā bojā gāja lielākā daļa Liepnas koka apbūves, izdega arī alus brūža telpas, sabojājot ražošanas iekārtas, taču nenodarot būtiskus bojājumus ēkas nesošajām konstrukcijām. Vēl šodien brūža akmens sienas un jo īpaši varenais skurstenis paceļas augstu virs kokiem, pa gabalu norādot uz vietu, kur senāk putojis no Liepnas laukos audzētiem miežiem darīts miestiņš.

Liepna Manor Brewery
Liepna Manor (formerly Lipna) was a major stimulant of the local economy at the turn of the 20th century. Following popular demand, Liepna’s land-owner built a new brewery at the banks of the river Liepna around 1900. A new four-storey building was an expressive structure made from splintered stone and bricks and consisted of several wooden outbuildings- offices and accommodation flats for foremen and brewery workers.
The brewery was topped by a brick chimney which to this day holds an openwork weathercock with an elaborate „1903”. According to the memories of local teacher Austra Brice (born in 1920s) locally brewed ale was popular and it was also merchandised over a wider area, including Balvi, Vilaka and Jaunlatgale (Abrene).
Quite fierce battles were fought between encroaching Red Army and retreating German forces in 1944 in the area of Liepna.
Most part of Liepna’s timber architecture was ruined during these battles. The brewery suffered from fire too, production machinery was destroyed but supporting joists’ constructions were less damaged. The brewery’s stone walls and magnificent chimney structure still rise high above the tree line thus indicating the place where, in older days, locally produced beer frothed freely from barley grown in the fields of Liepna.
