Geocache Description:

Israel reached its 1000th cache at approximately 1:30am on Dec 1st, 2013. In addition, after much harrasing of Erik, we got our first local reviewer - Matmonai
If those aren't good enough reasons to justify a geo-event, I don't know what are!

Following the cancellation of the Haifa geo-event (GC4RV7R) due to rain, I'm posting this second event in Jerusalem. Hopefully we'll have better weather this time around. However, in the event of rain, we'll move the event indoors. I will post a note and notify all the RSVPed participants of any change of plans. So stay tuned.

----------------------

THE BOTTOM LINE:

Date: Friday, 27th Dec 2013 at 13:00

Place: Just outside the Old City walls, between the Jaffa Gate and Zion Gate.
This is the same location as we had for the geo-event 2 years ago: (visit link)

The core plan:
----------------
This will be a potluck picnic, where everybody brings something.
Please write in your RSVP, what you are planning on bringing, and how many people in your group.
I will be updating the info from time to time, so stay tuned.

If you can't bring food. That's OK too. Just let me know. I will bring pitas, fresh humus, and other treats from the old city, so please bring 15 NIS per person to defray the costs.

We'll need:
-------------
One-time items (cups, plates, napkins, forks, knives)
Drinks (Coke, water, fruit juice)
Appetizers (bread, crackers, cheese, hummus, dips)
Salads
Main course (rice, pasta, chicken, etc.)
Deserts (cookies, fruit, cake)

Geocaching excursions:
--------------------------
There will be OPTIONAL Geocaching excursions before and after the event.

Before the event (around 11am) I will be checking up on some of the Jerusalem Gates caches. Please contact me for details.

After the event (around 2:30pm) we'll be checking out some of SSABW's Old City geocaches:
(1) "Austrians in Jerusalem - TB Hotel" (GC4P619)
(2) "The Western Wall" (GC4PFK7)
(3) "Via Dolorosa - Stations of the Cross" (GC4GJR3)

Rides:
-------
If you are at all able to provide a ride either from the event or to the event, PLEASE mention that in your log. You may make a cacher very happy. :-)

Parking:
----------
Finding parking near the Old City is not trivial. If you can come using public transportation (bus or light train), that will probably be easiest.
There's a small metered parking lot near Zion gate that usually has spaces (both nearby and cheap/free). However, if it's full, you may have no choice but to go to the Mamila underground parking facility. See waypoints below.
