Geocache Description:

An International Cache for Johannesburg! By finding this easy traditional cache, you will also be able to help a geocacher in England find a related cache GC4V31B. Look at THE GUIDELINES below to see how this will work.

Roedean School (SA) is a private girls school based in Parktown in Johannesburg. Founded 110 years ago, in 1903 by Miss Theresa Lawrence and her close friend, Miss Katherine Margaret Earle, who were both educated at the University of Cambridge, the two acted as joint Heads of School during the years 1903 - 1930.

When we were approached to play a part in this international cache it was a great opportunity for us, as Little Miss ThomasfamilyZA (aka Nicole, pictured left) attends Roedean, and was really excited to be able to hide a geocache about her school.

Roedean School, Johannesburg:

What many people do not know is that when Theresa Lawrence and Katherine Earle set sail for South Africa, they were inspired by a vision. Their mission was to create a world-class sister school to the esteemed Roedean Brighton, which was founded by Theresa Lawrence's three older sisters.

Roedean School, Brighton:

THE GUIDELINES FOR THIS INTERNATIONAL CACHE

JOHANNESBURG CACHERS:

1. Simply log your find.

2. Note the coordinates for the Brighton cache which you will find inside this container.

3. Please supply the coordinates to the first cacher who contacts you about the Brighton cache.

4. I would ask that you do not supply the coordinates to anyone else.

BRIGHTON CACHERS:

1. Please do not ask the cache owners for assistance in obtaining the coordinates.

2. You can only log a find on the Brighton cache page if you have physically signed the log in the cache in Brighton.

3. Geocachers in Johannesburg are encouraged to post a note on the Brighton cache to say who they have assisted in retrieving the co-ordinates for the Brighton cache.

4. As a courtesy to the Johannesburg cachers, I would encourage you not to contact a cacher who has already assisted in supplying coordinates to a Brighton cacher, and I would encourage Johannesburg cachers to alter their found logs to indicate that they have already supplied the coordinates after having done so.

A big thank you to Monkey_Chops for suggesting the idea to us and hiding the other side of this geocache in Brighton. Thanks also to Martletsman for suggesting the creation of this cache to Monkey_Chops, and to NaviMate and Bhanacharaid, for having already created a simiilar cache for 'Bexhill to Port Elizabeth', GC466C9 and GC461V8, from which this cache is a shameless rip-off!
