Located at the oldest continuously active Baptist Church in Texas! Organized in 1839, the Independence Baptist Church was the leading Baptist church and supporter of missionary work during the Republic of Texas, and is the congregation in which Sam Houston was baptized. Nearby are the graves of Mrs. Sam Houston and her mother, Mrs Sam Houston's home, the historic Coles Settlement, Old Baylor Parks, Independence Cemetery and more. Enjoy exploring!
