The site of the old clam bridge, also known as the Tree Trunk Bridge, has been used as a crossing point over the River Bovey for over 120 years. The new bridge was built in 2007 involving various groups including 42 Commando Air Assault Roborough, RNAS Yeovilton and SWH and DCC. Heavy horse power brought the wood and fittings as the site was so remote.
The first half of the walk meets up with the River Bovey in Houndtor Wood and follows it down the valley through woodland owned by Natural England and then you return via the Woodland Trust reserve.
Please re-hide well. Thank you.
With thanks to Natural England for allowing us to place the cache.
