Here in the Yanamarca Valley, we have two post-secondary schools. This cache is set at the Technical Institute. It offers certificates in Agriculture, Fashion Design, Culinary Arts, Practical Nursing and Computer Science. The agriculture program is moving toward a focus on sustainable agriculture. The students at the school can go on to be leaders in creating a more environmentally-friendly agriculture in the region. The geocache is hidden near the Institute’s little tree nursery. Other sustainability projects at the Institute include a living fence of native trees, a small display garden of local plants and a project to grow new strains of potatoes that are resistant to insects and therefore require less use of toxic insecticides that poison the water.
Be sure to enjoy the Welcome to Marco arch in front of the school, with its Carnaval dancers, and the unusual bus shelter for the students.
If you are walking from here to do the caches in the south part of the valley, you might enjoy walking along the bank of the river. Just continue south from the cache location and you’ll come out on the road to from Pachascucho to Tragadero.

Aquí, en el Valle de Yanamarca, tenemos dos escuelas post-secundarias. Esta caché se establece en el Instituto Técnico. Cuenta con los certificados en Agropecuaria, Diseño de Modas, Artes Culinarias, Enfermería Tecnica y Ciencias de la Computación. El programa de agricultura se está moviendo hacia un enfoque en la agricultura sostenible. Los estudiantes de la escuela puede pasar a ser líderes en la creación de una agricultura más respetuosa con el medio ambiente en la región. El geocache está escondido cerca de pequeño vivero del Instituto. Otros proyectos de sostenibilidad en el Instituto incluyen una cerca viva de árboles nativos, un pequeño jardín de la exhibición de plantas autóctonas y un proyecto para cultivar nuevas variedades de papas resistentes a los insectos y por lo tanto requieren un menor uso de insecticidas tóxicos que envenenan el agua.
