Geocache Description:

The 12th Annual International Cache In Trash Out (CITO) Weekend will be held on April 26-27. Join me for a workday in the Green Swamp West, Saturday April 26, 9:00AM to 2:00PM. We will meet at the picnic tables just inside the gate. This date is after hunting season so we won't have to worry about being shot at by the hunters so we should be safe.

After a short safety brief and some trail maintenance tips, for those who have never performed any trail maintenance, you will be divided into 3 or 4 person work parties assigned to different trail sections, depending on the number of attendees. Most trail maintenance will be between Compressco Rd and the Withlacoochee River. We will be clearing and blazing the trail and picking up any trash left by the hunters.

At the end of the workday we'll meet back at the Ranch/River Rd gate for lunch (bring your own!).

What you should bring:
Drinking water (1-2 liters per person)
Snacks
Lunch
Loppers, other pruning tools
Sunscreen
Work gloves (if you have them)
Hiking shoes/boots
Rain gear
Camera (optional)

What I will provide:
Trash bags
Paint/Brushes
DEET
Extra Water
First aid kit

If you want to camp, you can make a free reservation at one of the nearest campground (Ashley or Compressco).

There is also a campground (McNeil) located right on the Withlacoochee River but is a little further from the CITO. There are picnic tables and a fire ring. There is also non-potable water available for washing, the campsite is primitive and a long way from civilization so bring all you need.

If you are interested in camping go to the SWFWMD website and apply for a permit.

Any geocacher that attends a CITO event on this weekend and helps clean up our beautiful planet will earn a 2014 CITO souvenir for their geocaching profile.

This CITO is hosted by a member of the
Florida Geocaching Association
