Geocache Description:

A cache close to the center of Reykjavík in a nice garden with a beautiful mural wall. If this is the largest geocache you've found in Iceland, don't you think that's worth a favourite point? :)

This is my first cache in my regular account, I've also hidden caches under a different username in the IFL geotrail. The aim for this cache was to make the first large container in Reykjavík. Also, I'm very happy to bring people to this wall that I helped make. It is painted by my friend Raffaella Brizuela, a Mexican artist who grew up in Iceland. A few years ago this wall was very ugly and I approaced Raffaella to help me make it more appealing. We are both bahá'ís and wanted to draw inspiration from the bahá'í faith. We desided to use the story of Mírzá Buzurg's dream, the father of Bahá'u'lláh. After months of preperation we finally started painting the wall in early September 2012. With the help of lots of friends we finished the mural in November 2012.

Mírzá Buzurg's dream:

Bahá'u'lláh was in a garden; great birds flew overhead; they attacked Him, yet they were powerless to harm Him. He was bathing in the sea, and began to swim in a vast, limitless ocean; His body shone out, and illuminated the sea! Above the waters, His long, jet-black locks, stood forth, floating in great profusion above the waves in all directions. Large numbers of fish gathered around Him, each fish holding fast to the end of a hair with its mouth. There were every kind of fish: large fish, small fish, white and black: and wherever He swam, they followed the light of His face. Such a vast number of fish clinging so tightly, caused no damage: not even a hair was lost from His head. Free and unrestrained, Bahá'u'lláh moved above the waters, with all the fish following His light.

His father was stunned by this dream, and with the Shah's permission, laid it before his well-known seer. The seer, swept away with amazement, explained how the garden and its birds, and the limitless ocean with its fish, were the world of existence, and its people, and that Bahá'u'lláh would single-handedly triumph over it, unhindered and alone; yet, he declared himself quite unable to imagine how it could ever come to pass. So His father took him to see Bahá'u'lláh, who was just a Child of five, and his praise and admiration of Bahá'u'lláh was so profuse, and so great his concern that He be protected, that His father became yet more passionately devoted to Him.

Years later Bahá’u’lláh declared, plainly and repeatedly, that He was the long-expected educator and teacher of all peoples, the channel of a wondrous Grace that would transcend all previous outpourings, in which all previous forms of religion would become merged, as rivers merge in the ocean. He laid a foundation which affords a firm basis for Unity throughout the whole world and the inauguration of that glorious age of peace on earth, goodwill among men, of which prophets have told and poets sung.

Today there are more than 5 million Bahá'ís around the world in more than 200 countries and territories.

The garde:

My brother lived in the house by the garden and worked on the garden for a few years. It used to be very beautiful and has been used for many garden parties. But since he moved out of the country it has been deteriorating. Never the less it still has a lot of charm. If anyone feels like cleaning this place up, feel free. And you are also free to use this place for a picknick and other small gatherings.

The cache:

The cache is very easy to find. There aren't many places to hide a large cache. It's prefect for large trade items and can litterely hold hundreds of travel bugs. Make sure to trade items up, if you take something leave something of greater value instead. It will be hard to avoid being seen by mugglers, but don't worry, Icelandic mugglers are harmless.
