A ideia básica do Esperanto é sustentar a tolerância e o respeito entre os homens de povos e culturas diversas.
O Esperanto foi iniciado por Lázaro Luís Zamenhof no final do século 19 através de um livrinho chamado Lingvo Internacia. Pessoas que desejavam ter contactos internacionais iniciaram o aprendizado da língua e começaram a usá-la. Assim 'nasceu' o Esperanto na Terra. Pouco a pouco ele estabilizou-se e evoluiu para uma língua usada e apreciada por muitas pessoas em muitos países.

The basic idea of Esperanto is to sustain tolerance and respect among men of diverse peoples and cultures.
Esperanto was started by Lázaro Luís Zamenhof in the late 19th century through a little book called Lingvo Internacia. People who wanted to have international contacts started learning the language and started to use it. Thus Esperanto was born on Earth. Little by little it has stabilized and evolved into a language used and appreciated by many people in many countries.
