Treshnish: Port Haunn
A very natural place
Although easily reached by a good track and path from the main coastal road, Port Haunn lies along one of the finest walks on Mull, leading onward across a superb raised beach before climbing steeply to two ruined villages. Beyond, a moorland crossing leads back to the coastal road...a fine circuit of a little over 6 miles.
Port Haunn is a natural harbour, used in times past by the fishing families who lived in blackhouses at Haunn. The landscape along this coastal stretch is magnificent, while out to sea the Staff and the Treshnish Islands ride easily on the swell.
Parking is available on the main road. Do not attempt to drive down the narrow single-track road to Treshnish Farm; it is used regularly by farm vehicles and visitors to cottages beyond. There is no turning area, and nowhere to park.
