Geocache Description:

Welcome to Fahrenheit 1581, another cache by Cankid!

This cache is not very easy to access and it may take a while to get to. You can follow a footpad a long way to the cache but at points it becomes hard to find.

If you are not a very confident bushwalker, I do not recommend that you attempt this cache.

Not to be mistaken for Tidbinbilla Mountain, Tidbinbilla Peak stands formidably on the horizon and can seem like a great challenge to anyone below. This is a serious walk, not to be taken light-heartedly. An experienced bushwalker may struggle with the climb.

With the Corin Dam road closed we had to make some quick decisions and this turned out to be the option we chose. Admittedly, we were not prepared at all for the walk and had little idea before hand of what it was going to be like. There are some very dangerous moments on the way, especially around John's Peak due to some rocky obstacles.

DO NOT FOLLOW IN OUR FOOTSTEPS!

You will need to bring:

  • All the necessary climbing equipment (gaiters, long pants, boots etc.)
  • 4-5 liters of water

On top of this, you will need to do some research about the area, mainly to do with the weather and if there is any fire activity depending on the season. It does snow here so winter may not be the best time! Be prepared!

The views from this cache are AMAZING! The view is not obscured by trees in anyway. The hide is an ammo tin, hidden in some rocks. Read the clues and take pictures. There is no need to go near the edge!

Now I bet you are all wondering why I called this cache "Fahrenheit 1581". Well the second part should be easy to guess as it is the altitude of Tidbinbilla Peak and therefore the cache. The other part, it may require you to think back a few years now. I am sure the trig will help!

Good Luck!

Congratulations! FTF goes to Tankengine and mtrax!
