This facility was originally constructed in 1867 with a cupola by Danish sea captain Charles F Boysen. It was acquired by the General Edward A Perry family in 1882 prior to his becoming the first from Pensacola to be Florida’s Governor. (1885 – 1889)

The church next door was established as a mission in 1821. First services were held in 1828. Between 1870 and 1880 the church suffered two fired and was completely destroyed. In 1881 a new building was purchased and built. In 1882 an epidemic of yellow fever struck and took many of the lives of the church including the pastor. It was completed in 1890.
