The newly formed York Region Geocachers Club is hosting their inaugural event and invite you to join them in celebrating “Geocaching in Space”.

The YRGC would like you to join them in celebrating this rare occasion and the spirit of adventure in geocaching at their inaugural event.

Astronaut Rick Mastracchio is scheduled to liftoff for a 6-month mission on the International Space Station on November 6, 2013 at 11:08 pm and TB5JJN1, a Geocaching Travel Bug®, is hitching a ride! Rick plans to use the Travel Bug as a tool to teach students on Earth about geography and other educational lessons. Every geocacher who attends a Geocaching Event on November 6 or 7, 2013 will be awarded a “Geocaching in Space” souvenir.

LAUNCH PARTY

The launch party will liftoff at the posted coordinates at 6:30 pm on November 6, 2013 were the event log will be available for signing and a group photo taken under York Region’s very own UFO perched upon the Colosuss Vaughan Cinemas. Each guest will be given a glow bracelet and are welcome to don any additional glowing objects for this flash mob portion of the festivities.

From there the celebration will continue at Dave and Buster’s a short distance away (see additional waypoint) where we have a group reservation for 25 people from 7:00 - 9:00 pm. The reserved spots will be on a first come first served basis. Registered participants over and above will still be able to eat and play at Dave and Buster’s if they wish, but they won't be seated at the reserved group table.

**Guests are asked to check-in with their hosts at the reserved group table and show their event glow bracelet to receive a ballot for a door prize draw for a gift basket valued at $50. The prize draw will be conducted at 8:30 pm and the winner must be present to claim the prize.**

To earn your smiley and Geocaching in Space souvenir you need only attend the flash mob. If you plan on meeting and greeting with other members of the YRGC please indicate if you want to be placed on the Dave and Buster’s group reservation list and the number in your group.
