"Perdida no tempo e no espaço, nas encostas do cone vulcânico da Vila da Povoação, na Lomba do Carro, localiza-se mesmo junto da berma, uma das mais belas ruínas da ilha de São Miguel, vulgarmente conhecida como Casa das Arucárias.
A Casa das Arucárias é uma marca na paisagem da Povoação e mesmo da ilha de S. Miguel, dada as suas características pouco comuns, uma vez que invoca de forma clara o espírito do romantismo do século XIX, onde a construção, a ao que parece, já comportava a noção de ruínas, com as janelas tapadas por fora, havendo ainda por outro lado a ideía de uma construção invocativa de um "mosteiro", com a sua ermida e ao mesmo tempo a ideia de uma "casa senhorial", com sua torre ao sabor da Idade Média.
É uma edificação datada dos meados do século XIX, de cariz privado e de veraneio, sendo hoje de pastagem de gado bovino. O imóvel está totalmente em ruínas, restando apenas a sua estrutura base.
Foi nesse local que o Agrupamento 766 do Corpo Nacional de Escutas, da Vila da Povoação, realizou o seu primeiro acampamento, tendo aí o Padre Octávio celebrado a missa campal.
O observador deste espaço fácilmente deduz que outrora existiu um jardim a sul, com três magníficas araucárias (Araucária Heterophilla), havendo restos ainda de um pequeno lago ao sabor do romantismo do século XIX. A maior arucária dos Açores (e segunda maior do mundo), tem cerca de 50,10 metros de altura e 1,90 metros de diâmetro. A sua idade estima-se entre os 150 e 200 anos. Localiza-se nas Furnas e foi descoberta durante a realização de trabalhos de limpeza da margem sul da Lagoa das Furnas. Estas três árvores, situados na Lomba do Carro, não lhe ficam muito atrás...
O "petisco" procurou esconder-se por estes lados...
Para encontrar a cache deverá:
Estacionar o veículo no estacionamento referenciado.
Apesar de se encontrar em propriedade privada, está autorizado pelo proprietário a entrar.
Deverá abrir a cancela, voltando a deixá-la fechada como a encontrou.

"SNACK" IN ARAUCARIAS'S HOUSE

Lost in time and space, the slopes of the volcanic cone of Village Population in Lomba Carriage, located right on the edge, are one of the most beautiful ruins of the island of São Miguel, commonly known as House of Araucárias.
The House Araucárias is a mark on the landscape of Povoação and even the island of S. Miguel, given its unusual features, since it clearly invokes the spirit of nineteenth century romanticism, where the construction, it seems, had the notion of ruins, with the windows boarded up on the outside, there is still the idea of a building evocative of a "monastery", with its chapel and yet the idea of a "manor house", with its tower to the flavor of the Middle Ages.
It is a building dating from the mid-nineteenth century, drafted in private, and is now grazing cattle. The property is completely in ruins, with only its basic structure.
It was here that the grouping of the 766 National Scouts Corps, of Village Population, held its first camp, and then the Father Octavian entered the open-air mass.
The observer of this space easily deduces that once existed a garden to the south, with three magnificent pines (Araucaria Heterophilla), there still remains a small lake to the flavor of nineteenth century romanticism. The greatest arucária in Azores (and second largest in the world), is about 50.10 meters in height and 1.90 meters in diameter. The age is estimated at between 150 and 200 years. Located in Furnas and was discovered while performing cleaning work on the southern shore of Lagoa das Furnas. These three trees, located in Lomba Carriage, you are not far behind.

To find the cache should:
Park the vehicle in the parking referenced.
Despite being on private property, it´s authorized by the owner to enter.
Should open the gate, turning to leave it as you found it closed.
