The adopt a Kiosk scheme allowed local communities and parish councils to adopt their red telephone boxes which would otherwise have been removed. Since 2009 over 1,500 have been adopted. The parish councils have converted phone boxes to many other uses including art galleries, tea rooms and florists, one of the most popular reuses is as a library. p>Phone box libraries are cropping up around the country as local residents take ownership of decomissioned phone boxes. Fitted with shelves, you may borrow a book but please remember to return it after!
