This church came about from the idea of a Methodist Minister, Tom Jones, who came to Beeston in 1940. Born in Yorkshire in 1891 he trained for the Methodist Ministry in Derby at the age of 30. With friends he brought four acres of land on Broadgate for £4000 and a marquee where meetings were held. They had been hoping to build a permanent structure but the war saw raw materials difficult to get hold of. A smaller building was erected and meetings were held there until the early seventies, when some of the land was sold and a new building took its place.
When this building was opened in 1972 membership was in the twenties. With the university attracting many international students many found their way here. This led to an extension being added in 2002.
I have put the difficulty as a 3 as this area is usually very busy with muggles.
“If anybody would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication. There is also a Church Micro Stats & Information page found via the Bookmark list”
