Shiva...
É um importante deus do panteão hindu. Ele tem sido adorado desde há milhares de anos. Deus da fertilidade, morte e destruição, membro da Trimúrti, tríade hindú composta por: Brama, Visnu e Shiva.
Ele representa diversos aspectos desde o simples ao sublime. Assim Shiva é conhecido como, o transcendente ou o auspicioso, apesar de quase tudo nele ser o contrário, o grande asceta, o mestre Yoga sentado, o chefe de família, o benfeitor detentor da felicidade, o guardião mestre das artes marciais, o homem simbolizando a virilidade e o erotismo, como originador da fertilidade representando o homem cósmico em eterna união com a mulher cósmica, o destruidor do mal que possibilita a regeneração, o destruidor do orgulho pela simplicidade e a um nível mais subtil, é o destruidor do karma, do ego e materialismo que prende o homem ao samsara.
Dada esta multiplicidade de facetas de Shiva, não é possível sintetizá-lo numa única ideia, daí que as pessoas prefiram venerar um símbolo que dê forma à ideia por trás da imagem. O principal símbolo de Shiva é talvez o de concepção mais pura: uma simples pedra que se ergue da terra fértil, saindo para tocar o céu, é o linga.
 A data mais importante de celebração de Shiva é Mahashivratri, em que se celebra o casamento de Shiva com Parvati, ou seja, quando Shiva se tornou parte do ciclo da vida como um homem comum. O dia da semana em que se costuma realizar o ritual de adoração de Shiva é à 2ª feira, Somvar, o dia da lua, que é considerado um dia auspicioso.
Em suma ele é o supremo senhor da criação, Mahadeva, ele é a totalidade de todas as manifestações, o significado de toda a existência.
Shiva representa o mistério à espera de ser descoberto, assim como a vida. Compreendê-lo é compreender a realidade que governa o cosmos: a eterna verdade absoluta, somnatan dharma.
O Templo....
O projecto do Templo de Shiva é da autoria do Arquitecto José Deodoro Troufa Real, e situa-se no terreno cedido pela Câmara Municipal de Loures (17050m2), junto à Urbanização das Torres da Bela Vista, em Stº António dos Cavaleiros, Loures.
A zona de intervenção prevê 4 Sectores distintos em que se desenvolvem os diferentes Blocos que formalizam o projecto. Sendo o Sector I destinado às actividades Sócio-Culturais, o Sector II destinado às actividades de Culto, com o Templo e parte do Parque de Estacionamento Coberto, o Sector III destinado à outra parte do Parque de Estacionamento Coberto e Espelho de Água (Kund), e o Sector IV destinado ao Estacionamento ao Ar Livre e Jardim Memorial.
 Este projecto é baseado em referências e conceitos pesquisados numa investigação sobre a evolução dos Templos dedicados ao deus Shiva, mas reteve-se o essencial para o projecto do Templo: a entrada faz-se por uma escadaria que conduz ao ventre de uma mulher sentada e o santuário encerra o símbolo de Shiva ? o Linga e é encimado por uma torre chamada de Shíkara.
Pretende-se deste modo que esta peça de arquitectura se torne um ícone de referência no contexto dos Templos Hindus na Europa, e seja um meio de promoção e realização de vários projectos desta comunidade.
Pavilhão Provisório
 Dada a complexidade do projecto final do Templo e a constante actividade desta comunidade, a Associação de Solidariedade Social ? TEMPLO DE SHIVA optou por construir no local um Pavilhão Provisório.
Trata-se de um espaço simples e amplo, com apoios essenciais para a realização de actividades sócio-culturais de recreio e convívio da comunidade hindu.
 Por se destinar também a uma função religiosa, e ter que permitir a realização de determinados rituais da comunidade, existe um espaço de culto no centro da zona de apoios do pavilhão.
Este espaço tem como objectivo incrementar a participação de todos os hindus de forma a contribuírem para a concretização dos projectos da comunidade.

Shiva ...

The Temple ....
The draft of the Shiva Temple is by the architect José Diodorus Troufa Real, and is located in the land granted by the Municipality of Loures ( 17050m2 ), with the urbanization of Torres da Bela Vista in St. Anthony Knight, Loures .
The intervention area provides 4 different sectors in which they develop the different blocks that formalize the project . As the Sector I intended activities Socio- Cultural Sector II for the pursuit of Worship, with the Temple and part of Covered Parking, Sector III for the other part of the Parking Covered Water Mirror ( Kund ) and Sector IV intended for parking Outdoor and Memorial Garden .
This project is based on references and concepts studied in research on the evolution of the Temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, but have retained the essential to the project of the Temple : the entrance is a staircase leading to the womb of a woman sitting and sanctuary contains the symbol of the Shiva Linga and is topped by a tower called Shikara .
It is intended therefore that this piece of architecture become an icon reference in the context of Hindu Temples in Europe, and is a means of promotion and implementation of several projects of this community .
Interim Pavilion
Given the complexity of the final draft of the Temple and the constant activity of this community, the Social Solidarity Association TEMPLE OF SHIVA chose to build an onsite Interim Pavilion .
It is a single space and ample, with essential support for the realization of socio-cultural activities for pleasure and conviviality of the Hindu community .
Also intended for a religious function, and having to allow for certain rituals of the community, there is a worship space in the center of the pavilion area of support .
This space aims to increase the participation of all Hindus in order to contribute to the implementation of community projects .
