A mini trail in the Saltskog area
A serie of caches in the neighbourhood of the Saltskog Gård
Saltskog Gård was a midsize farm in the outskirts of Södertälje.
In the late nineteenth century, Carl Fredrik Liljevalch bought the manor and decided to live there.
Liljevalch was a businessman and a founder of many great companies with a great interest in arts and social life. He donated large sums to schools in Stockholm and after his death some of his heritage was used to establish the "Liljevalchs Konstall" in Stockholm. Liljevalch also invested money into Södertälje. He invested in the building of the Södertälje Canal and Södertälje Bath AB (Södertälje was a famous resort for recreation and to bath in the sea (Östersjön) Liljevalch developed the manor and the surroundings and created stone stairs in the forest and built stone caves, he planted a lot of different trees and other plants.
In 1964 the town of Södertälje bought the manor and land. A lot of buildings where built and a new part of Södertälje ws born, Saltskog. When they where building they found a seventh century coin treasury, it was the Saltskog Treasury from Gustav II Adolfs time and it gave the area a shimmer of history.
Today thousands of people live here In present Saltskog Gård is used for expositions in the weekends and the building can also be used for wedding celebrations and so on. Also is the Gård décor to a summer theatre and not to forget the park with its varying flora where you can have an interesting walk and you even can find another cache,.
