Geocache Description:

You are looking for a small screw-top camouflaged container large enough to take Geocoins and small swaps but not Travelbugs. You will need to bring a pen to sign the log. The cache is not hidden in Church land but on a public footpath that leads on from the back of the churchyard.

The churches of All Saints' Beyton and St. Ethelbert's Hessett make up the joint parish of "Beyton with Hessett", which is part of the Benefice of Rougham, Beyton with Hessett and Rushbrooke.

Further information on the Church can be found on the excellent Suffolk Churches website where Hessett St Ethelbert's is described as

"One of the most fascinating and satisfactory of all East Anglia's churches"  and Simon Knott says "Come here if you can, for here is a medieval worship space with much surviving evidence of what it was actually meant to be, and meant to do.

And even more than that, it is one of the loveliest churches I know."

It's well worth looking inside and if the church is locked the Churchwarden lives opposite in Church Cottage.

The Church is on the main road through the village so although you can park outside please do so with caution and regard to other road users. Alternatively there is a pub car park not far away

The footpath is well maintained and should be suitable for pushchairs. It is a rather open footpath and muggles could approach quickly from both directions so please take care when searching. During the first weeks of Autumn the area provides rich pickings for blackberries so make sure to bring a container to collect them in! In Summer there may well be nettles so you might want to bring gloves for retrieving the cache. In Winter the cache will be more exposed so please ensure it is well hidden.

If anybody would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication. There is also a Church Micro Stats & Information page found via the Bookmark list
