Geocache Description:

The Texas Spirit Quest
is a series of Caches placed by many individuals, near cemeteries and historic sites in hopes of paying respect to the many pioneer ancestors that have ‘walked’ before us.

There are hundreds of cemeteries in the rural communities across Texas. This series will introduce you to many of them. The cache pages will provide a virtual history tour of the cemeteries, tombstones and local lore.

PLEASE NOTE: The cache is NOT at the cemetery!

There are 11 interments at this site, ranging from 1877 to 1922. For one grave, there is no data for the decedent available, and for another, the date of death is not recorded. There are eight Harrisons and two Inmans, along with the unknown individual.

The site CAN be accessed, but I would not advise it. Cemeteries in Texas are supposed to be publicly accessible, but when they are on private land, sometimes permission has to be granted first. This one can be *almost* reached by the dirt road found here. Proceed through the gate, taking care not to strike the free-roving cattle. Turn right at the barns. There's a kind of loop by some tanks, and a faint track at the end. Proceed down that track across the field. Past a big heap of branches, look far off to your left, and you should see at least one of the headstones behind a fenced enclosure. But again, I strongly advise against going there, even though some kids on an ATV buzzed past me without a word. At any rate, as always, any refinements to the listed coordinates are welcomed.
