La Pigna: Sanremo Vecchia
Charles de Brosses, scrittore francese del Settecento, definisce la Pigna come una "graziosissima cittadina costruita sopra un pan di zucchero".
Fondata intorno all'anno Mille Sanremo Vecchia è chiamata Pigna per le sue caratteristiche vie ammassate e le fortificazioni medievali proprio ad immagine delle squame di una pigna. Il borgo è stato continuamente ampliato e rinforzato fino al Cinquecento per difenderlo dalle aggressioni dei pirati. La Pigna comincia dalla trecentesca Porta di Santo Stefano, un arco di pietra in stile gotico che costituisce una sorta di raccordo fra la città moderna e quella antica.
Il nucleo abitato si presenta tutto abbarbicato alla collina in anelli concentrici con passaggi coperti, cortiletti, archi, fontane e scalinate, in un susseguirsi di architetture ardite.
La Pigna: Old Sanremo
Charles de Brosses, French writer of the 18th century, defines the "Pigna" (pine cone) as a "charming town built above a pan of sugar".
Founded around the year 1000 Sanremo Vecchia is called "Pigna" - Pine Cone - for its crowded streets and medieval fortifications at image of scales of a pine cone. The village has been continuously expanded and strengthened until the sixteenth century to defend it from pirates ' attacks. La Pigna begins from the 14th-century St. Stephen's Gate, a stone arch in Gothic style which is a kind of junction between the modern and ancient city.
The village is all clinging to the Hill in concentric rings with covered steps, courtyards, arches, fountains and stairways, in a succession of daring architecture.

Un container che può ospitare qualche travelbug o geocoin, in un posto adatto alla ricerca con bambini, vicino ad un parco giochi, all'ombra di un maestoso Ficus macrophylla centenario....rimettete la cache così come l'avete trovata.

A small box that can hold some travelbug and/or geocoin. At a few meters you have a playground, so perfect for seeking with kids... in shade of a huge and old Ficus macrophylla tree (150 years?)...put back the box exactly as you have found it. Thank you.
